Yes i Definitely agree, for a small business, social networks became a free, easy and a popular way of advertising. It doesn't cost anything to a business to put up a Facebook advertisement, and not only that, but you can target it towards a specific group of people!
Facebook is also being used a lot in the entertainment industry where night club owners, DJ's post their parties and get to advertise them for free for their contact list of their promoters contact lists. There are also a payed advertasiment where we can create a marketing campanign and send out e-flyers for an specific Facebook Network. Do you think it will take long until they start to sell tickets for those events?
On the same theme of your blog ... i discovered yet another Social - Business Network. The sites called Linkedln, apparently this is the largest business networking site consisting of more than 6 million executives as members. What this site offers is a means for recruitment +for executives to re-establish contact with former collegues and to open doors to new relationships. see link .....

Yes - I agree that SN's are definitely a great tool for smallto medium sized businesses, dj's and especially non-profits.
I currently voluteer for Habitat for Humanity and found that one of our most successful marketing tools for our last event was.....Facebook! We used the tool to spread the word and I specifically asked people that I knew where hip connectors to help and promote the event. I was really impressed with both the support from other FB friends and the ability for the viral marketing to take place using this tool!
